Karman Bio

This is a curriculum I am building for myself, in public. I read, I take notes, and then I rewrite those notes here as if I were teaching the subject. The rewriting is the point: it is the step that turns something I have read into something I actually know.

How it is organised

Material is grouped into three tracks. Space covers the engineering of getting to orbit and operating there. Bio covers molecular biology, bioprocess engineering, and physiology. Industry covers how this field actually works: market structure, regulation, procurement, and the venture finance behind it.

Each track holds subjects, and each subject holds articles written to be read in the order they were published. Some subjects belong to more than one track, in which case they appear on both track pages but live at a single address.

What to expect

Articles are revised continuously rather than published once and left alone. Every article carries the date it was published and the date it was last updated. Treat anything here as notes from a student, not as a reference text.

Where I have not understood something yet, I say so in place rather than writing around it. Those passages are marked.

Open question

Like this. The Kármán line at 100 km is a convention, not a physical boundary, and I do not yet have a good answer for why that particular altitude won over the alternatives.

Who writes this

Jeonghyeon Yu. I study space biotech the way an industry analyst would: understand what the scientists are saying, judge whether the technology can become a business, and put a number on what that business is worth.
